As we wait for the Supreme Court to deliver its ruling on the constitutionality of the President’s health care law, Americans for Prosperity continues to fight against the takeover and to protect health care freedom. AFP’s Health Care Freedomproject has led the charge to block state attempts to create health care exchanges.Here’s a quick update from AFP chapters and activists across the country:

  • Arizona: The Arizona chapter fought hard this legislative session to prevent the creation of a health care exchange, producing this video about Governor Brewer’s ObamaCare Czar and created a pledge for legislators to protect your health care freedom.
  • Arkansas: Our Arkansas chapter is continuing to block efforts by Insurance Commissioner Jay Bradford and Governor Mike Beebe to do the heavy lifting for the federal government by creating an exchange.
  • Michigan: Efforts by the Michigan Chapter of AFP are heating up in the next several weeks. All state legislators will be asked to pledge their support for Michiganders’ health care freedom.
  • Missouri: In the final few weeks of the Missouri Legislative Session, AFP-Missouri is calling on the Missouri House to pass SB464 which would require legislative or voter approval to create a health care exchange. This commonsense bill prevents bureaucrats from creating an exchange behind closed doors.
  • Montana: Following the success of our March 27th “Hands Off My Health Care” rally in Bozeman, AFP-Montana testified in front of the legislature and dropped off more than 650 petitions from Montanans opposing creating of a state-based exchange.
  • Nebraska: AFP-Nebraska stood alone against insurance lobbyists to block attempts by the legislature to implement the President’s health care law. Activists in Nebraska delivered thousands of calls and emails to their legislators and held more than 10 events across Nebraska telling the legislature to keep “Block Obama’s Health Care Exchanges.”
  • Pennsylvania: Just last week, AFP-Pennsylvania held a legislator breakfast to educate and detail AFP’s position on exchanges. During the breakfast, AFP-PA released a pledge for all legislators to do the right thing and stand up for health care freedom.
